Thirteen haunted houses in Central Texas, plus a string of ghost tours, are open on at least one of the next two weekends.
For the biggest scares near Austin, go to House of Torment or Bat City Scaregrounds in Buda (Bat City's season ends Halloween night). In San Antonio, there's 13th Floor downtown plus the theme-park haunts at Fright Fest and Howl-O-Scream. For something gentler, try the Trail of Terror daytime walkthrough in Leander the free Myrtle Manor in New Braunfels, or a museum ghost tour in Georgetown, Lockhart, Bastrop or Fredericksburg.
